York Police dispatcher dies
York mourns the death of York Police Department Dispatcher Joyce Lee
Whitfield, who died suddenly Tuesday, April 29, at her home in York.
“She was only 47 years old and we are all very sad and shocked at her
passing,” stated York Police Chief David Rowry.
Chief Rowry said Whitfield became ill after exercising at the YPD exercise
room and decided to go home to rest.
“She was a great asset to the police department and was a good friend and
dependable co-worker. She will be greatly missed,” Chief Rowry said.
Funeral Services will be held at Sumter County High School Gym on
Saturday, May 3 at 11 a.m.
